Mulling is another way of saying to heat, sweeten, and flavor with spices as in mulled wine or cider. As far as I know, the concept of mulling began in Europe. They would combine certain spices in their drink recipes to spice things up a bit. What is a typical mulling spice blend today would be a combination of cinnamon, cloves, allspice, cardamon, perhaps a bit of orange citrus peel, or on occasion, a dash of peppercorn, or star anise I have heard that back in the good old days some recipes even added raisins to the mixture
USING OLDE TRADITION SPICES IN DRINKS

It is also tasty as a straight drink when used just like a tea bag in hot water. Steeping a mulled spice bag in green tea is a great way to make the vegetable taste of green tea more appealing to kids without using lots of sugar. It also adds a nice taste to ginger ale and can be served cold. Any of these options make for a nice mulled drink for kids during the festivities.
AUTUMN TEA
What would autumn and winter be without mulled drinks Unlike mulled wine, you can make mulled tea with or without wine. Both versions are great autumn warmers that will get you in the mood for the upcoming cold weather. For a tasty alternative to caffeinated black tea, try using Cranberry cider herbal tea instead.
